1. Full-featured, safe, rapid, and accurate fault testing. The instrument uses low-voltage pulse method and high-voltage flashover method to detect various cable faults, especially for cable flashover and high-resistance faults, it can directly test without burning through. If equipped with an acoustic positioning device, it can accurately determine the fault location.
2. High testing accuracy. The instrument adopts high-speed data sampling technology with an A/D sampling speed of 100MHz, providing a reading resolution of 1m and a detection blind zone of 1m.
3. High intelligence. Test results are automatically displayed as waveforms and data on a large LCD screen, making fault judgment intuitive. It also features a full Chinese menu display operation, requiring no special training for operators.
4. This cable fault detector has waveform and parameter storage and recall functions, using non-volatile devices, so waveforms and data are not lost after power-off.
5. Dual-trace display function allows comparison of the faulty cable's test waveform with a normal waveform, facilitating further fault judgment.
6. Waveform expansion ratio function allows changing the waveform scale to expand the waveform for testing.
7. The position of dual cursors can be arbitrarily changed to directly display the direct or relative distance between the fault point and the test point.
8. The propagation speed can be modified according to different cables under test.
9. Compact portable design with built-in rechargeable battery for convenient carrying and use.

According to the fault detection principle, when the instrument is in flashover trigger mode, the flashover echo generated by the instantaneous breakdown discharge at the fault point is a random single transient waveform. Therefore, the test instrument should have the function of a storage oscilloscope to capture and display single transient waveforms. This instrument adopts digital storage technology, using high-speed A/D converters to sample, converting the input transient analog signal into a digital signal in real-time, storing it in high-speed memory, and after processing by the CPU microprocessor, sending it to the LCD display control circuit to become time-sequential dot matrix information, thus displaying the currently sampled waveform parameters on the LCD screen.
When the instrument is in pulse trigger mode, it sends detection pulses at a certain period to the cable under test and the input circuit, immediately starting A/D operation. The sampling, storage, processing, and display are the same as the aforementioned process. The LCD screen should show the reflected echo.
