How to Extend the Lifespan of a Frequency Converter

A frequency converter, also known as VFD, is a power distribution device commonly used in daily power distribution processes. It mainly adjusts the voltage and frequency of the output power supply through the switching of internal IGBTs, providing the required power supply voltage according to the actual needs of the motor, thereby achieving energy saving and speed regulation. With the continuous improvement of domestic industrial automation, the application of frequency converters has become increasingly widespread.

With the widespread application, daily maintenance and care of frequency converters have become particularly important. By following these points in daily work, you can effectively extend the service life of the frequency converter.

First, the frequency converter should be installed on a flat and stable equipment. If installed on equipment that frequently vibrates, the screws inside may loosen and cause damage.

Second, if the frequency converter frequently needs to brake, equip it with a braking resistor or mechanical brake, because frequent use of the converter's own braking will subject the equipment to frequent back electromotive force impacts from the motor, making it very easy to damage.

Third, if the ambient temperature is relatively high during use, install a fan for the equipment to cool it down.

Fourth, the frequency converter is a high-end device that needs to be isolated from dust. Therefore, place the equipment in a relatively clean and dry location, pay attention to environmental hygiene, frequently wipe the instrument surface and dust inside the inner shell, and if conditions permit, place the equipment in an air-conditioned room.

As long as the frequency converter is properly maintained and cared for daily, its service life can be greatly extended, which is also beneficial for the use and maintenance of the instrument.
