Instructions for using the petroleum demulsification/anti-emulsification tester:
1. Before connecting the instrument to the power supply, first add an appropriate amount of distilled water to the bath (it is easy to keep it 30mm from the upper edge), check whether the sample stirring shaft is clamped tightly, the measuring cylinder turntable is in a certain positioning state, all switches should be in the off state (press down to turn off), and the water level in the bath should exceed the 85ml scale of the measuring cylinder.
2. Plug in the power plug, turn on the "Power" switch (press up to turn on) and the "Auxiliary Heating" switch. At this time, the auxiliary heater and the heater controlled by the temperature controller heat simultaneously; the toggle switch on the right side of the instrument is only used for raising and lowering the lifting arm. When toggled to the upper position, the lifting arm rises, otherwise it lowers. The lifting arm can automatically stop when it rises or lowers to a certain position.
3. Set the temperature according to the test standard requirements, and set the measurement/setting toggle switch to the "SP" (setting) position. Adjust the temperature setting potentiometer "SET" to the required temperature. Then set the measurement/setting toggle switch to the "PV" (measurement) position, and the instrument begins to control the temperature. When the controlled temperature is lower than the set temperature, the red light on the panel lights up, indicating that the temperature control heater is heating. When the controlled temperature is close to the set temperature, the red light turns on and off intermittently, indicating that the temperature control heater is heating intermittently. At this time, check whether the set temperature meets the requirements. During temperature control, the measured temperature will fluctuate around the set temperature several times, then stabilize.
4. Make all preparations before the test according to the test method.
5. Simultaneously turn on the "Water Bath Stirring" switch to start the water bath stirrer.
6. According to the test method, pour distilled water and sample into a clean measuring cylinder at room temperature.
7. When installing the measuring cylinder on the cylinder tray, ensure that the measuring cylinder is clamped tightly and positioned correctly.
8. Observe the thermometer reading, confirm that the water bath temperature is constant, then turn the tightening nut of the sample stirring shaft clockwise to loosen it, so that the stirring shaft can move up and down freely. Place the stirring blade vertically at the center of the measuring cylinder, 6mm from the bottom of the cylinder (positioned by the fixing nut at the upper end of the shaft). Turn the tightening nut of the stirring shaft counterclockwise to tighten it, ensuring that the stirring shaft is clamped and cannot move up or down.
9. Turn on the "Sample Stirring" switch to reach a speed of 1500 rpm, and the timer starts timing simultaneously.
10. When the stirring time reaches 5 minutes, the instrument will automatically alarm and stop stirring. Turn off the "Sample Stirring" switch and the timer switch. According to step 8, lift the stirring shaft and use a glass rod wrapped with oil-resistant rubber to scrape the oil on the stirring blade into the measuring cylinder, then press the up button. According to the requirements of the test method, record the volume in milliliters of the separated oil, water, and emulsion layers in the measuring cylinder.
