Underground Cable Path Detector is a high-performance underground metal pipeline detection system, consisting of a signal transmitter and a receiver. It can be used for path detection, pipeline survey, and depth measurement of metal pipelines and underground cables. With various optional accessories, it can perform unique identification, as well as locate pipeline insulation damage and certain types of cable faults.
According to the detection principle, it is divided into two categories:
1. One type uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to detect metal pipelines, electric/optical cables, and some non-metallic pipelines with metal marker lines. This type is referred to as a pipeline locator.
Advantages: fast detection speed, simple and intuitive, easy operation, high accuracy.
Disadvantages: When detecting non-metallic pipelines, a non-metallic probe must be used, which is laborious and requires intrusion into the pipeline.
2. The other type uses electromagnetic waves to detect underground pipelines of all materials, and can also be used to locate buried objects. It is commonly known as radar, also called pipeline radar.
Advantages: Can detect pipelines of all materials.
Disadvantages: High environmental requirements, poor depth measurement capability (difficult to detect deeply buried pipelines), and high demands on operator quality and experience.
No instrument is perfect; they need to be used in combination to achieve their full potential.
Traditionally, pipeline locators refer only to those using the electromagnetic induction principle, and they are the most widely used instruments.
Underground Cable Path Detector Components:
1. Transmitter: Applies a special frequency signal current to the pipeline under test, typically using three excitation modes: direct connection, induction, and clamp.
Transmitter Technical Parameters
Injection modes: 128Hz, 512Hz, 1KHz, 2KHz, 8KHz, 33KHz, 65KHz, 83KHz
Induction and clamp modes: 33KHz
Output voltage: 0-400V P-P, automatically/manually adjusted based on insulation conditions
Output waveform: Sine wave
Power supply: 12V DC 4.5AH lithium battery
Maximum output power: 10W
2. Receiver: The receiver has a built-in induction coil that receives the magnetic field signal of the pipeline, generating an induced current to calculate the pipeline's direction and path. There are generally three reception modes: peak mode (maximum value), null mode (minimum value), and wide peak mode. Additionally, more advanced instruments now typically feature a peak arrow mode (combining the advantages of both peak and null modes for more intuitive operation) and compass guidance (to indicate the pipeline's direction).
Receiver Technical Parameters
Receiving sensitivity: I≤100μA@1M
50Hz interference rejection: ≥100dB
Power consumption: <1.0W
Power supply: 12V 1.5AH lithium battery
Maximum test depth: 4.5 meters
Depth measurement error: ±0.05h±5cm (h is the depth of the cable)
Route measurement error: ≤5cm
Test line insulation level: ≤25MΩ
Effective length for testing pipeline route and depth using injection method: not less than 20Km (under normal conditions).
Effective length for testing line route and depth using induction method: not less than 3Km (under normal conditions).
Note: Normal conditions mean that the pipeline under test has no insulation faults or other interference within the above measurement range.
There are also some accessories to complement the two main components.
