Features of On-Load Tap Changer Tester
It is a comprehensive measuring instrument used to measure and analyze the electrical performance indicators of on-load tap changers in power transformers and special transformers in the power system. It adopts computer control and, through a specially designed measuring circuit, can measure parameters such as transition time, transition waveform, transition resistance, three-phase synchronization, etc. of the on-load tap changer. Users can measure directly from the tap changer leads or connect directly from the transformer three-phase bushings and neutral point according to needs and site conditions. The instrument has functions such as analyzing, storing, and printing the measured data. It solves the problem of outdated measurement methods and lack of dedicated testing means for on-load tap changers in power transformers. It can promptly diagnose potential faults of on-load tap changers during preventive tests of power equipment and transformer overhauls, which is of great significance for improving the reliability of power system operation.
Advantages of On-Load Tap Changer Tester:
1. Strong comprehensive measurement capability. Within one instrument, it can measure various parameters of the on-load tap changer, such as whether there are breakpoints during the entire process of switch selection and switching, transition waveform, transition time, transition resistance, three-phase synchronization, etc.
2. Comprehensive analysis of measurement results. Users can analyze the resistance value of each point and segment in the waveform, the time of each segment, the time of each time period, and the three-phase asynchronism through the large-screen LCD and function keys. Through screen analysis, users can understand the changes of various parameters of the three-phase switch at each instant during the switching process. They can also print, store, and review historical waveforms for analysis and comparison.
3. Print output. The instrument is equipped with a panel-mounted front-paper-loading printer, which can directly serve as an archive for switch test reports.
4. Menu-driven, flexible operation. All operation functions, prompts, and measurement results are displayed on a 240×128 dot matrix large-screen LCD. Users only need to press function keys according to the prompts to perform measurements.
5. The instrument is equipped with anti-shock and overvoltage protection circuits. All external leads of the instrument are sent to the measuring circuit through the protection system, which can prevent damage to the instrument due to instantaneous discharge of large inductances or wiring errors.
6. Good anti-interference performance. The all-aluminum alloy chassis and the built-in power supply noise filter and anti-interference circuit enable reliable measurement on site even with poor power quality and strong electromagnetic field interference.
7. Data retention on power failure. The data and waveforms measured by users can be stored separately in the instrument, and the stored content will not be lost due to power failure. It is especially suitable for bringing back to the laboratory for further analysis and archiving after on-site tests. 8. The instrument can store up to 16 groups of switching waveforms.
Precautions for On-Load Tap Changer Tester:
To ensure the safety of operators and the instrument, the manufacturer reminds users to pay attention!
1. Be sure to read this manual carefully before using the instrument;
2. The operator of the instrument should have general knowledge of electrical equipment or instruments;
3. This instrument can work normally within the ambient temperature range of -5℃ to 40℃ and relative humidity ≤80%, but when used outdoors, avoid rain and direct sunlight on the LCD screen;
4. The power socket is equipped with a protective ground wire; please insert the plug into a three-hole socket with ground.
5. The instrument output voltage is 24V. During on-site testing, connect all leads first, then turn on the instrument power;
6. When changing the line clamps, the power must be turned off. The instrument can measure with coils connected, but it is strictly forbidden to measure with power on;
7. Do not connect more than two groups of wires together as one measurement; unused wires should be left open;
8. After the test, turn off the instrument first before removing all wiring;

Installation Method of Printer for On-Load Tap Changer Tester:
(1) A-type panel: Pinch the elastic clips on both sides of the printer frame with your hand, push the entire printer into the mounting hole of the instrument or equipment panel, and check whether the printer is installed firmly.
(2) D-type and F-type front-paper-loading panel-mounted: Installation is extremely simple and convenient. Insert the entire printer into the mounting hole of the instrument or equipment panel, clamp the printer from behind the equipment panel with the plastic clips and tighten the screws.
The general paper loading process is as follows:
① Remove the front cover of the printer
② A-type panel-mounted micro-printer must be removed from the instrument panel. Note that the micro-printer power must be turned off before operation. D-type, F-type front-paper-loading panel-mounted, and T-type desktop can skip this step.
③ Remove the paper roll shaft, install a new paper roll, place the paper shaft back into the guide groove of the printer, and confirm that the paper roll shaft is firmly installed and will not fall out.
④ Cut the paper end into a triangle or cut it evenly.
⑤ Turn on the printer power. After the printer advances the paper a little, press the SEL key to turn off the SEL indicator light, then press the LF key to rotate the print head. Use your hand to feed the paper head into the paper inlet under the print head. The paper will slowly enter the print head until it emerges from the front of the print head. Then press the LF or SEL key to stop the print head rotation → close the printer cover and thread the paper out through the paper outlet on the front cover.
Replacing the Ribbon Cartridge
Replacing the ribbon is only for dot matrix printers; thermal printers only need special thermal paper and do not require ribbon replacement (consumables). Note: Thermal paper has two sides, and only the front side can be printed on.
The process of replacing the ribbon cartridge is as follows:
① Open the front cover of the printer.
② First lift the right end of the ribbon cartridge, then lift the left end (the end with the knob) to remove the ribbon cartridge.
③ Gently place the left end of the new ribbon cartridge on the gear shaft of the print head, turn the knob on the ribbon cartridge in the direction of the arrow until the end of the ribbon cartridge falls to the bottom, then lower the right end of the ribbon cartridge.
④ Install the printer cover. First hang the upper part of the front cover on the frame, paying attention to aligning the indicator lights and buttons, then press the lower part of the front cover toward the frame with a little force to snap the front cover onto the frame.
