1. Introduction
The EKL-2 cable type short-circuit fault indicator is a device installed in power cable distribution lines, box-type substations, ring main units, and branch boxes to indicate the flow of fault current. Once a short-circuit fault occurs in the line, line patrol personnel can use the red indication on the indicator to quickly determine the fault section, branch, and fault point. This completely changes the outdated practice of blind line patrol and trial power transmission by sectional closing to find faults, greatly improving work efficiency, shortening power outage time, and effectively improving power supply reliability and economic benefits.
2. Design Principle
The EKL-2 cable type short-circuit fault indicator is a device used to detect short-circuit fault points in 6-110KV lines. It detects fault points by utilizing the positive sudden change of current and line power outage when a short-circuit fault occurs in the line.
When the line is normal, the green light flashes.
When a short-circuit fault occurs in the line, the short-circuit fault indicator senses the fault current, and the indicator's red light flashes. As shown in the figure below, according to the red flashing of indicators 2, 5, 8 on phase B of line 2 and indicators 3, 6, 9 on phase C of line 3, while indicators 11 and 12 flash green, the fault can be quickly determined to be at point D. The indicator reset time is 12 hours.
3. Operation Criteria
(1) It≥700A It is the sudden change current starting value
(2) △I≥0.5I0 △I is the current change rate I0 is the line current before short circuit
(3) I=0 I is the current after line fault
(4) 0.06S≤△T≥3S △T is the current sudden change time
4. Application Scope
EKL-2 type is applied in cable systems such as 6-110KV branch boxes, ring main units, and box-type substations.
5. Technical Features
1) Accurate operation, strong anti-interference capability: not affected by line, magnetizing inrush current, high-order harmonics, current fluctuations, especially the bypass effect of cable distributed capacitance.
Simple fault section location: The indicator is directly installed on the distribution line, and the fault section can be easily found by checking whether two adjacent indicators have operated.
2) Automatic/Manual reset: The indicator automatically returns to the normal position from the fault state after operation according to the factory-set reset time; it can also be manually reset as per user needs.
3) Simple installation and removal: The indicator can be installed and removed with power on without any tools.
6. Installation Method
Step 1: Initial state;
Step 2: Separate the housing from the metal parts;
Step 3: Unscrew the screw;
Step 4: Clamp the metal parts onto the cable;
Step 5: Clip the housing and metal parts together;
Step 6: Tighten the screw to fix the indicator on the cable
