How to Use a DC High Voltage Generator?

DC high voltage generator How to use it? The DC high voltage generator is mainly suitable for power departments and enterprise power departments to conduct DC high voltage tests and leakage current tests on zinc oxide arresters, power cables, generators, transformers, switches and other equipment. It has the characteristics of fast voltage rise and high precision. It has always been a frequently used equipment for power workers, but many beginners in the power industry do not know how to use this instrument. Today, the editor will briefly explain how to use the DC high voltage generator.

1. Before using the tester, check its integrity. The connecting cables should not have open circuits or short circuits, and the equipment should not have cracks or other damage.

2. Place the chassis and the voltage doubler cylinder in appropriate positions, and connect the power cord, cable, and grounding wire respectively. The protective grounding wire, the working grounding wire, and the grounding wire of the discharge rod should all be independently connected to the ground terminal of the test object (i.e., single-point grounding). It is strictly forbidden to connect the grounding wires in series with each other. Therefore, a DHV dedicated grounding wire should be used.

3. Set the power switch to the off position and check that the voltage regulator potentiometer is at zero. The overvoltage protection setting value is generally 1.1 times the test voltage.

4. Perform a no-load voltage rise to verify whether the overvoltage protection setting is sensitive.

5. Turn on the power switch. At this time, the red light is on, indicating that the power is connected.

6. Press the green button, then the green light is on, indicating that the high voltage is connected.

7. Slowly adjust the voltage regulator potentiometer clockwise, and the output terminal will start to increase voltage from zero. After rising to the required voltage, record the ammeter reading according to the specified time, and check whether there are any abnormal phenomena or sounds in the control box and the high-voltage output line.

8. Reduce the voltage. After returning the voltage regulator potentiometer to zero, immediately press the red button to cut off the high voltage and turn off the power switch.

9. Perform leakage and DC withstand voltage tests on the test object. After confirming that the tester has no abnormal conditions through inspection, you can start the leakage and DC withstand voltage test on the test object. Connect the test object, grounding wire, etc., and after checking that everything is correct, turn on the power.

10. Increase the voltage to the required voltage or current. The voltage rise speed should be 3-5kV test voltage per second. For large capacitive test objects, when increasing voltage, also monitor that the charging current of the ammeter does not exceed the maximum charging current of the tester. For small capacitive test objects such as zinc oxide arresters and magnetic blow arresters, first rise to 95% of the required voltage (current), then slowly and carefully rise to the required voltage (current). Then read the voltage (current) value from the digital display. If you need to perform 0.75UDC-1mA measurement on a zinc oxide arrester, first rise to the UDC1mA voltage value, then press the yellow button. At this time, the voltage will drop to 75% of the original and maintain this state. At this time, the current can be read. After the measurement is completed, turn the voltage regulator potentiometer counterclockwise back to zero and press the green button. If you need to increase voltage again, press the green button.
