Fault Testing of Underground Cable Fault Detector

Underground Cable Fault Detectoradopts multiple detection methods and applies contemporary advanced electronic technology achievements. It utilizes computer technology and microelectronics technology, featuring high intelligence, complete functions, wide application range, accurate testing, and convenient use.

The underground cable fault detector consists of a transmitter, a receiver, an inductive probe, and a potential difference detection frame. The instrument uses the electromagnetic induction method for route tracing and depth testing of optical cables and cables, and uses the potential difference method for fault location testing of optical cables and cables. It is suitable for locating routes, depths, and insulation fault points to ground for various optical cables and cables with metal conductors (wire pairs, sheaths, shielding layers). It is a dedicated line fault tester for postal and telecommunications systems, as well as military, railway, mining, oilfield, airport, shipping, and other units.

When the entire set of underground cable fault detector instruments is used in coordination, it can quickly determine the nature of the fault, the distance from the fault point to the test end, locate the fault point, trace the path and depth of the buried cable, detect the transmission speed of cables with unknown media, the full length of the entire cable and joint positions, and identify the faulty cable among several cables. One set of instruments serves multiple purposes.

Underground Cable Fault Detector fault testing:

Basic steps of fault testing: Use a megger or multimeter to measure the insulation resistance of the faulty cable, determine the nature of the fault, and decide the testing method; test the fault distance; detect the path of the cable buried near the fault point; and pinpoint the fault.

The fault testing of this testing system has three basic modes: low-voltage pulse, direct flash, and surge flash, combined with different sampling methods, resulting in a total of eight testing modes.

Before testing, disconnect all connections at the cable terminal.

On the panel of the testing system, there are two knobs: "Input Amplitude" and "Displacement", used to adjust the signal amplitude and vertical position of the next sampling.

Underground Cable Fault Detector integrates the essence of various domestic and international detection instruments into one machine. It features simple operation, no need for mains power, fast detection speed, high accuracy, precise positioning, safe use without causing harm to personnel or electrical equipment, and low price. It is favored by the majority of agricultural line maintenance workers and is an indispensable maintenance instrument for every agricultural power department, geographic line user, and rural electrician.
