How to Distinguish the Quality of Electric Heat Tracing Tape
Electric heat tracing tape has increasingly become an indispensable anti-freezing and insulation material in people's production and daily life, but most people do not know how to distinguish the quality of electric heat tracing tape. They may think that the thicker the wire, the better. Actually, it is not. So, how should consumers distinguish the quality of electric heat tracing tape?
First, look at the quality of the conductive core wire of the electric heat tracing tape, as it will directly affect its quality. The conductive core wire is usually made of tinned copper wire, and the quality of the copper wire will affect the insulation effect.
Second, you can take a small section of heat tracing tape and burn it for a while to see if it can burn. If it does not burn, it indicates that the raw materials meet the production requirements.
Then, check the starting current of the electric heat tracing tape, which refers to the current when the tape is connected to the power supply. If the starting current is relatively large, the usable length of the tape per single power supply will be correspondingly shortened, affecting the service life and posing a greater safety hazard. Therefore, when purchasing electric heat tracing, you should choose one with a smaller starting current.
Finally, after the PTC core tape of the electric heat tracing tape is manufactured, it needs to undergo radiation cross-linking to achieve the optimal PTC effect. The quality of the radiation cross-linking determines the stability of the core tape's function and its service life. Currently, high-energy electron radiation cross-linking is commonly used, and the appropriate radiation dose is determined according to the PTC material system. However, the dose rate should not be too high, the linear speed during radiation should be uniform, and the running tension and friction should be well controlled.
