Cable Identification Instructions

Cable Identification Instructions

1. The signal generator of the cable identifier is powered by AC power supply, and it applies a fixed-period unipolar DC pulse to the de-energized cable to be identified. The generator output line is connected to the cable core and the grounding point or ground spike. The cable armor is disconnected from the earth, and the core is connected to the grounding point or ground spike at the far end, allowing the loop to conduct pulse current.

2. Turn on the power switch of the identifier.

3. Connect the identifier power supply to the core and grounding point or ground spike of the cable to be identified using the dedicated wires. (Red wire to core, black wire to ground.)

4. Press the test button.

5. Connect the receiver of the identifier to the receiving clamp.

6. Note that the arrow direction on the receiving clamp indicates the direction of current flow (positive direction); otherwise, the needle deflection will be opposite to the above description.

7. Clamp the receiving clamp onto the cable under test.

8. Adjust the receiver sensitivity to an appropriate level.

9. At this point, you can see the deflection signal on the handheld receiver.

10. After the transmitter and receiver start working normally, the current induced in the sensor coil is displayed on the handheld receiver. The direction of the needle deflection indicates the current direction. Only the cable with current flowing out will cause the needle to deflect to the right with a large amplitude; this is the cable you are looking for. All other cables only carry return current, causing the needle to deflect to the left with a smaller amplitude.

11. When the identifier power supply is not in use, press the "test button" to stop the output.

12. During testing, do not set the receiver sensitivity too high.

13. After identifying the target cable, a trial puncture must be performed before construction to ensure safety!!!

14. For AC/DC dual-use models, even if not in use, they should be charged regularly to prevent the battery from drying out and being damaged.
